Job Description

We are seeking a Nurse Specialized in Wound, Ostomy & Continence (NSWOC) to provide wound and ostomy consultation for patients in the clinic and community.

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled nurse who enjoys caring for a broad range of clients with various wound etiologies and wound care modalities. As a NSWOC, you will utilize your expertise in promoting self-management by patients and leading the interdisciplinary team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Your expertise in the management of wounds and ostomies will be sought out by individual practitioners and committees that guide wound care in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Use knowledge of assessment, prevention, and interventions regarding wound infections and ostomy care.
• Care for patients with consuming wounds, ostomy, continence, and lower leg assessment, including ABPIs.
• Critically appraise wound care literature and apply research evidence to practice.
• Provide classifications and indications, appropriate utilization to reduce visit frequency and obtain desired outcomes.
• Practice conservative sharp wound debridement (CSWD) and use other debridement methods.
• Provide edema management, including bandaging based on complete lower leg assessment.
• Monitor criteria for adjunctive therapy for complex or recalcitrant wounds.
• SUPPORT OUR PATIENT'S SAFETY BY PRACTICING ACCORDING TO POLICY AND STANDARDS.
• Use professional assessment skills to perform thorough holistic assessments of each client and identify their needs.
Requirements
• Registered Nurse (RN) degree.
• Current College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) registration in good standing.
• Graduate of Nurses Specialized in Wound, Ostomy & Continence Canada (NSWOCC).
• IIWCC or WCS Certified.
• A strong focus on overseeing complex wound assessments.
• Several years of experience managing wounds and ostomies.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills.
• A valid driver's license and vehicle.
• Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
• CPR Certification.
• Current immunization record, including 2-step TB test.
• Vulnerable sector check and clear background check.
