Civil Engineering Expert: Urban Water Systems

The Role
Based out of Surrey Office, the Intermediate Water Resources Engineer will support the Infrastructure Planning Group. The successful candidate will work closely with interdisciplinary teams, leveraging their expertise to deliver high-quality results.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Conduct detailed modeling of urban drainage systems, managing data comprehensively and ensuring accurate results through thorough system assessment.
2. Utilize specialized software (1D, 2D, and 3D) to model and simulate urban drainage system hydraulics.
3. Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for culverts, ditches, spillways, detention ponds, and enclosed drainage systems.
4. Develop and optimize infrastructure servicing plans for subdivisions, neighborhoods, and city-wide areas.
5. Lead the creation of Integrated Stormwater Management Plans and Flood Management Plans, incorporating hydrological and hydraulic modeling.
6. Develop rainwater source control LID concepts and assist in LID designs, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.
7. Oversee flood assessments and develop associated management plans, considering various factors and scenarios.
8. Analyze technical requirements related to municipal water, sanitary sewer, drainage conveyance works, and hydraulic structures.
9. Coordinate drainage requirements with interdisciplinary teams for projects, ensuring seamless collaboration.
10. Prepare construction cost estimates, implementation plans, and operation and maintenance manuals, communicating effectively with stakeholders.
11. Write and review technical memorandums and reports, maintaining high standards of professionalism.
Additional Responsibilities
This role involves client communication and management, assisting with proposal preparation, coordinating with subconsultants, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders. Effective project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and management are essential for success in this position.
Required Skills and Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field with minimum 6-8 years of relevant experience.
2. Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in BC with EGBC, with P.Eng. designation in Alberta (APEGA) being an asset.
3. Experienced in hydrological and hydraulic analysis and modeling using various techniques and software.
4. Skilled in infrastructure master planning and flood management planning, with expertise in stormwater/groundwater balance and stormwater control structure design.
5. Proficient in utilizing AutoCAD, Civil3D, ArcGIS or QGIS, PCSWMM, InfoWorks ICM, HEC-RAS, and other computer programs used for preparing reports, presentations, and designs.
6. Proven project management skills, with excellent communication and technical writing abilities.
7. Comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment, collaborating effectively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
